Turn automatic Instagram checks into three short visits
Put a boundary around repeatedly opening the same app.
Before you start
Open Tysh on your iPhone and grant Screen Time access when prompted.
Choose an App List in Blocks → Active → App Lists, or create one from the block editor. Free includes one list you can reuse. Additional lists require Premium.
Let’s set it up.
Pick one app
Create or use an App List containing only Instagram so this example's allowance is easy to understand.
Create a Budget Block
Open Blocks → + → Budget Block, name it, and choose the list.
Choose the budget rules
Under Reset rule, choose Hard. Under Budget type, choose Launch Budget.
Set three short visits
Set Launches per day to 3 and Minutes per launch to 5, then tap Create.
What happens next
Tysh grants short access windows through its budget flow. Once the daily allowance is exhausted, Instagram stays blocked under this budget until tomorrow. The allowance covers access windows; it is not an exact count of every time the app comes to the foreground.
If your plans change
Hard has no manual daily reset. Choose Resettable instead at setup if you want a challenge-gated reset. The budget type and numeric limits lock after creation; to change those, replace the budget.
Another active protection can still keep the same app blocked. After setup, check that your boundary saved and enabled successfully.
